BMW 503 Roadster by Jadi

The BMW 503 of which just over 400 were built between 1956 and 1959 used the same 3.2 litre V8 engine found in the better known BMW 507 2 seater convertible. Both were styled for BMW by Count Albrecht Goertz, who is perhaps better known for two Japanese car designs he penned, the Toyota 2000GT and the original Datsun 240Z.

The 503 was an expensive car, and did not sell well against the more glamourous Mercedes-Benz 300SL roadster, it's main rival at the time.

One famous role for a 503 Roadster came in the 1971 movie "The Last Run" starring George C.Scott. In the movie, Scott plays a retired gangster who is persuaded to do one last job. He agrees to smuggle a man from Portugal to Italy, and he does this by hiding his passenger in a secret compartment behind the seats of his 503.

Jadi make this model of the 503 and it is a good model for it's budget price. The paintwork, interior, lights and wheels are all above average and there isn't any major faults with the model as far as I can see. Jadi (who have been making 1:18ths since 2003 or thereabouts as far as I know!) seem to be establishing themselves as makers of good quality budget priced models, which is a very good thing indeed.
