Introduced in 1984, the M635 CSi was the ultimate version of the 1976-89 6 series coupe. The "M" in the name if this car stands for "Motorsport", which was BMWs top performance division. The addition of the "M" logo to any BMW model indicates it is a high performance version of what is usually a quick car to begin with. In the US, the M635 CSi was sometimes known as the "M6", but that name did not apply in Europe. The 3.5 litre 24 valve straight six in the M635 CSi produced 286bhp driving the rear wheels, giving this handsome car serious performance. I remember seeing one race (illegally of course!) a then brand new Ford Sierra Cosworth (not a slow car by any means!) on a road near where I used to live in 1990, and the BMW left the Ford for dead!
Visible differences between the M635 CSi and the regular 635 CSi include different two piece alloy wheels, a more aggressive front spoiler with integrated driving lights and standard Recaro bucket seats on the inside.
This M635 CSi is part of AUTOarts series of 1:18th BMW 6 series, which also includes the similar 635 CSi. Racing car versions of the 6 series are also available from AUTOart (the car proved to be a highly competitive in Touring Car racing). An excellent model with an excellent engine, highly detailed brakes and a nice interior.
