The 1963-67 Sting Ray Corvette is considered among enthusiasts to be one of the best looking American cars ever. Styled by then head of styling at GM, Bill Mitchell, all had a powerful V8 driving the rear wheels, and from 1965 the Corvette gained disc brakes on all 4 wheels. Another advance on the previous generation Corvette was independent rear suspension. Most had the 350cu in "small block" V8s (small by US standards only of course, as 327cu in equates to around 5.4 litres!) while a small number of cars had the huge "big block" 427cu in/7 litre V8. Like all Corvettes before and since, this car had a glassfibre body shell.
This model represents a 1967 small block Corvette convertible and is part of the Motorbox range of models produced by Exoto. It is an attractive model in a beautiful shade of blue with a white convertible hood (which unusually cannot be removed so the model can only be displayed "top up"). While it is a good looking model, it is not groundbreaking at all in terms of 1:18th models and lacks such finer detail as realistic (as opposed to dog leg) door hinges, it has a plain engine bay and as mentioned earlier, can only be displayed with the roof up. However it is the finest 1967 Corvette currently (January 2006) available.
