This fine looking car is the fifth generation of the long lived Corvette series of sports cars (hence Corvette "C5"). Chevrolet opted for the evolutionary approach to styling for this car, as it shares many styling features with it's predecessor, the 1984-1998 4th generation 'Vette, including pop-up headlights, four round tail-lights and the targa roof style bodywork. With it's aluminium V8, this Corvette is a serious performer, as you would expect from what is considered to be America's best sports car.
Along with Maisto, Bburrago and Mattel, UT have produced a model of the C5 Corvette, and the UT model is the one shown here. I feel it is the best version available, and is up to UT's high standards. The body and paint work is of a high standard, and the interior is nicely detailed. As with alot of UT's, the engine is represented by a detailed panel covering the engine bay, rather than a complete model of the engine. For most modern cars, this seems to be acceptable, as most car manufacturers like to hide their engines under a cover all plastic panel. Obviously this makes the model makers job easier (and cheaper!), but nonetheless, UT have done a reasonable job here.
