Dodge Viper SRT-10 Prototype by AUTOart

This fantastic looking roadster is the second generation Dodge Viper SRT-10. The original Viper was one of the best performance cars to come from the US in the 1990s and the new Viper will most likely be one of the most exciting US performance cars of the 2000's. The new Viper went into production in 2002 as a 2003 year model with an improved version of the original Viper's 8 litre V10 engine. Thanks to an increase in size to 8.3 litres, the newer car puts out more power and torque (500bhp and 525 lb/ft respectively) than the original Viper. This model however was produced by AUTOart as a "prototype" Viper SRT-10. It has the new interior, wheels and body of the 2nd generation Viper, but it has the older cars 8 litre V10. AUTOart are planning to release a "production" version which will have the correct engine.

The original Viper roadster had a prominent roll hoop behind the seats and did not have a proper convertible roof, only a temporary "get you home" cover which did not do a great job of keeping rain out of the car! The new car has a proper folding convertible roof making it a far more practical everyday car compared to the old one. With lots of power and rear wheel drive, the new Viper is a serious driving machine, and the new styling is just as exciting as the original Viper's was, to my eyes anyway!

AUTOart have made a superb job of the new Viper, with a good looking body, great lights, the usual superbly detailed brakes, and a carpeted interior. The engine is from the old Viper but it is nicely replicated in this model by AUTOart.
