Ford Expedition by UT Models

Ford Expedition "Eddie Bauer" by UT Models

This monster was until recently the biggest Ford SUV money could buy. Ford have since introduced the Excursion which is even bigger! The Expedition is the better looking of the two and is nicely represented here by UT.

Based on the chassis and front section of Fords big selling F-150 pick-up truck, the Expedition competes at the big end of the SUV market. This version is the limited edition "Eddie Bauer" luxury model which sells for considerably more than the price of the base model. Eddie Bauer's is a US based clothes and household goods retailer and has also been tied in with luxury editions of Ford's "smaller" SUV, the Explorer.

This monster is powered by the 4.6 litre Ford Triton V-8. The Lincoln division of the Ford Motor Company also produce a version of the Expedition called the Navigator. I was recently in a stretched version of a Navigator which was in use as the groomsmen and bridesmaids car at my cousin's wedding in New Jersey. It was impressive! (Plus there was no shortage of Heineken's in the rear!).

This model is by UT and is pretty much up to their high standards. The interior and engine bay are nicely detailed, but the gold "Eddie-Bauer" edition trim along the doors has a tendency to fall off, as does the rear doors if opened carelessly. Both are easily replaced onto the model but it is a quality defect. Consequently I am not giving full marks here, but I do feel this model is an impressive showpiece for my collection.
