Lamborghini Diablo SV by AUTOart

Introduced in 1996, the Diablo SV was meant to be a cheaper yet higher performing version of Lamborghini's supercar. It achieved this by reverting back to rear wheel drive (thereby loosing weight compared to the VT 4WD version) as well as having less equipment such as air-conditioning and electric seats, all in the name of saving weight and cost (it still was a very expensive car, but was the "cheapest" Diablo available in 1996). The engine in the SV was in a higher state of tune and was as a result more powerful, boosting performance still further. The SV has shorter gearing than the standard '96 Diablo, giving it greater acceleration, but a slightly reduced top speed.

Cosmetically, the SV is distinguished from other Diablos by it's garish "SV" decals on both sides, as well as black spoked alloy wheels and a new engine cover with prominent air intakes protruding above the roofline. At the time of it's launch, motoring journalists felt it to be the best Diablo available due to it's explosive performance and improved dynamics, and all for less money than the regular version.

AUTOart make this model of the SV as part of their range of 1:18th scale Lamborghini Diablos. They also released it in a striking yellow colour with black markings, which is possibly even nicer than this one!
