Lloyd Alexander TS by Revell

Lloyd Alexander TS by Revell

This diminutive car was introduced by Lloyd, a part of the German Bogward concern, in 1956. Offering a meagre 25hp, the Alexander TS was most definitely not a performance car, but instead was aimed at the economy end of the market. It had 2 forward opening "suicide" doors and a column change manual transmission.

This model of the Alexander is made by Revell. I personally like Revell's small car range as they are a departure from the normal 1:18th scene, which is often dominated by Exotic's and so on. The body moulding is spot on and well painted. The interior is very bare, but then again, having seen photo's of the real thing, it is an accurate representation.

The engine bay has some nice detail, but the bonnet is very difficult to close and it feels like you might snap it off at times! Also, the boot lid does not open. The small rear lights are apparently fragile, as the left rear one on my model was cracked as it was on many of the other examples I saw in the shop it was bought in.

Overall, it is a nice model of an unusual car and well worth adding to any collection with an interest in small cars.
