In 1999 Mercedes replaced their largest saloon car, the S-Class, and with it came a new Coupe version, the CL-Class. Two versions are currently available, the CL 500 and the CL 600. The CL 500 has a V8, while the CL 600 is the range topper with a V12. AUTOart do versions of both, but the CL 500 is only available through Mercedes Benz dealers.
To afford a CL in real life, you need to have some serious dough! It is an expensive car and comes fully loaded (leather, climate control, sat nav, you name it!). Fast too, with a 5.8 litre V12, which is mounted up front and drives the rear wheels.
AUTOart make this model and very good it is too. I'm not crazy about white as a colour on full size cars, but it seems to suit this model well. It is also available in black, and the CL 500 version comes in silver. The interior and the engine bay are realistic and look great! Overall a fine effort (as expected) from AUTOart. It gets 8/10 marks from me.
