This estate version of the Mini was introduced in 1960 (one year after the standard Mini hit the streets) and remained in production up until 1980, when the Mini range was rationalized to just the original 2 door saloon. Up to 1969, the Mini was sold either as an Austin, or a Morris. After 1969, Mini became a marque in it's own right. The Austin version of this estate was called the Countryman, while the Morris was the Traveller. The wood trim on the rear sides of this car were purely decorative and could be deleted as an option.
Kyosho make this model, which is a Morris Mini Traveller Mk I (as made between 1960-1967, when it was replaced by the Mk II). It is one of their earlier diecast efforts, but even though it has been out for some time, it still is an excellent model, even by today's very high standards. The chrome grill and bumpers look great, as does the A series 4 cylinder engine. The rear doors open to reveal a carpeted load bay, and the dashboard is realistically modeled (although it mainly consists of just a central speedometer, as early Mini's were pretty basic in terms of interior trim).
