Mitsubishi Pajero LWB by AUTOart

Mitsubishi Pajero LWB by AUTOart

This big 4x4 is one of AUTOart's new releases for 2001. It is a model of Mitsubishi's top of the range SUV, the Pajero Long Wheel Base (LWB) which has a 3.5 litre V6 engine, utilizing Mitsubishi's latest "Gasoline Direct Injection" (GDI) technology, which supposedly increases efficiency without sacrificing power. This version of the Pajero has been around since 1991, and was recently replaced by a new model in 1999 (I think!, late 90's anyway!). This version by AUTOart represents a late model of the 1991-1999 version.

The LWB Pajero is a huge vehicle with room for a third row of seats (which can fold down to save space). It has a sophisticated 4x4 system and high ground clearance, which endows it with good off road performance. The powerful V6 gives it good on road performance too, despite it being a heavy weight car.

AUTOart have done a good job on this model, and it has a quality paintjob and a detailed interior. The rear seats have fold away cup holders, and the floors have simulated carpet material. The engine bay looks good, and there is "wood trim" on the steering wheel and dashboard. It represents a Japanese market Pajero, as it is right hand drive and has an extra rear view mirror on the left leading edge of the bonnet. Overall it gets a solid 8/10 marks from me (the expected result for an AUTOart!). Sunstar make a similar model to this one of the Pajero in 1:18th, which is a good deal cheaper, but not nearly as nice I feel (a 6/10 model!). I do feel the AUTOart is worth the extra money over the Sunstar.
