Developed from the highly successful saloon version of the Rekord P1, the Caravan estate was a popular addition to the range. The styling was reminiscent of the 1957 Chevrolet Nomad, in my opinion one of the best looking estate/station wagons ever made. (Of course Opel was-and is-the German arm of General Motors, so it is not surprising that the style of it's 1950's range aped the popular American GM cars of the time).
The car had a two door body complete with a large rear hatch that opened onto a large load area, making it good looking and practical at the same time. Two tone paint was a popular 1950's optional extra, and this model has excellent two tone blue and white paintwork.
Minichamps tend to release interesting models of European classic cars, and this Opel is a perfect example. If 50s classic cars are your thing then this is a model worth looking out for.
