The following is a list of cars which I would love to see available in
1:18th scale (last updated 7/4/07). Some probably are available already but
possibly not by my favorite manufacturers. For example, the Ferrari 250 GTO is
available from Bburrago, but I just don't like it as I feel it is crudely
detailed!
Cars which I manage to get will then be removed from the list.
My favourite manufacturers (as of March 2006) are in order:
- CMC
- Exoto (I love their models, but I hate their current business
practices which essentially amounts to teasing loyal collectors by waiting
forever to release historically significant versions of their existing models
while coming out with endless minor and inaccurate versions in the meantime.
Then when a significant one does come out they jack up the price...)
- ERTL Precision100s/Authentics
- Minichamps/PMA
- AUTOart (they would be higher in my current ranking if they would
only stop releasing sealed models!!! I want engine and interior detail in my
1:18ths please! Otherwise I would have been a 1:43rd collector!)
- Norev (a new player in 1:18th and my current favourite "budget brand"
thanks to all the interesting new French classic cars they are coming out
with).
- Kyosho
- GMP/Peachstate
- Lane
- Revell
- Jadi
- Solido (vastly improved models since they moved model production from
France to China about 5 years ago or so).
- UT Models
- Gate Models
- Maisto
- ERTL
- The Rest!

- 1:18th scale 18 wheeler car transporter (it would be huge but
great!)
- Alfa-Romeo Montreal (especially in orange)
- Aston Martin DB4 Zagato
- Aston Martin DBR1 (1959 LeMans winner driven by Roy Salvadori and
Carroll Shelby)-due from Exoto but for a huge price
- Aston Martin DBS (especially James Bond's one from "On Her Majesty's
Secret Service")
- Batmobiles (original TV as well as movie versions)
- Bentley Arnage "Red Label" (out now from Minichamps)
- Bentley Azure (convertible version of the Continental)
- Bentley Continental (especially the short wheelbase "T" model)
- Bizzarrini A3C GT Strada (coupe or roadster)
- Bond Bug
- BMW 320i 1994
- BMW 523i 1997
- BMW 535i 2001
- BMW 750iL in silver from "Tomorrow Never Dies" (available in 1:24th,
probably unlikely to be made in 1:18th)-Kyosho may make a 1:18th 7-series
- BMW M5 (E39)-Kyosho was supposed to have been making one in 1:18th,
but as of 2006 it seems no-one now is planning to make one right now. The newer
2005 M5 is out though by Kyosho.
- Bugatti Royale Type 41 (in true 1:18th scale, unlike the Solido
version which is too small)
- Bugatti Type 35 (GP winner in the 1920's)-due out this year from
CMC
- Chevrolet Caprice 2-Door 1975 in tan with vinyl roof (because I owned
one as a student in 1991!)
- De Tomaso Mangusta
- De Tomaso Pantera (ideally the early wingless models)-(Mattel now
make one, but it's not a great model)
- Ferrari 250 GTO (ie/ not the Bburrago one!)-I bought the Hotwheels
one which is better than the Bburrago, but what AUTOart could have done
instead... Exoto have announced one, but they are very slow in releasing new
models recently. Doubtful it will be seen before 2007.
- Ferrari 250 P (mid-engined LeMans winner in mid-60's from which the
250 LM road car was developed)
- Ferrari 288 GTO (again not the Bburrago one and I don't like the
Mattel one either!)
- Ford Mustang Mach-1 1971 (as driven by Sean Connery in "Diamonds are
Forever"). AUTOart released a lovely 1971 Mach1 and I have a yellow one now.
Unfortunately AUTOart lost the 007 license to ERTL and hence can't make a Bond
version of this model. ERTL have released the Bond version I want, but it's a
pretty crappy model unfortunately!
- Ford RS200-Ricko have released one in 2004, but it's relatively
expensive and not a great model)
- General Motors "Firebird" Dream Cars (I, II & III)
- Henkiel Bubble car
- Honda CR-V (especially in black!)-Because it was my daily
driver!
- Honda S800 Convertible
- Iso Grifo 7-litre
- Jaguar XJS (especially the early 70's versions as seen in the "New
Avengers" and the "Saint"). Yat Ming have released one but I haven't got one
yet.
- Jaguar XK120 Coupe or Roadster (one made by ERTL(???) but it's not
great, Kyosho or AUTOart please!)
- Jensen FF/Interceptor
- Jouest Porsche ('96-97 LeMans winner)
- Lamborghini Cala (concept car)
- Lamborghini Espada
- Lamborghini LM 002 (this would be an ideal compliment to Exoto's
Hummer)
- Lotus Esprit V8 (out now from AUTOart)
- Lotus Exige (in orange of course!)-due out from AUTOart
- Light Car Company Rocket
- Maserati Bora
- Maserati Ghibli-out now from Minichamps
- Maserati Kylami
- Mercedes Benz 300SEL 6.3 (Uber Benz!)-I'd like a street version (I
have the racing version by Minichamps)
- Mercedes Benz S320 (W140) my old car!
- Monteverdi Hai 450SS
- Morgan 3-wheeler's
- Peugeot 205 T16 (mid-engined Group B Rocket!)-(Solido now make
it)
- Peugeot LeMans winners (from early 90's)-on the way in 1:18th from
Spark and Norev
- Porsche 962 LeMans sports prototypes-some out now by Universal
Hobbies, Minichamps do the 956
- Rolls-Royce Corniche
- Rolls-Royce Phantom
- Rolls-Royce Silver Cloud
- Rolls-Royce Silver Seraph
- Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow (our wedding car!)
- Subaru SVX
- Toyota Megacruiser (Japanese alternative to the Hummer)
