Welcome to my website devoted to 1/18th scale model cars. I am addicted to these models and would like to share my addiction with the world at large. I have an unnatural interest in cars, both full size and in miniature, but obviously cannot afford to collect the real items (not yet anyway!).
What makes a good model is not the subject, but the craftsmanship which went into designing and manufacturing it. For example, the Ferrari 250LM and the BMW Z3 M-Roadster are fantastic cars, but I feel the Bburrago models of these cars do not do them justice. On the Ferrari the detailing is crude, while on the BMW the scale is plain wrong, (more 1:17th scale), a fact that is obvious when it is placed next to the UT Z3 (which is far more accurate in scale).
To be honest, I'm not a big Bburrago fan (and in fact they ended up being bought over by Maisto after they went bankrupt). CMC, Exoto, AUTOart and Kyosho are among my favourite manufacturers, as their products tend to be uniformly excellent models. Maisto also has some nice models (and some bad ones!), plus I have a soft spot for the Revell micro-car models, especially their Messerschmitt's.
In addition to photos and descriptions of the cars in my collection, I will rate each model from 1-10 in 8 different categories according to my (completely subjective) rating system with 10 being the maximum mark reserved for those models which are excellent in terms of realism, attention to detail and standard of fit and finish. Scores of less than 5 would generally be considered to be of poor quality and not highly recommended by me. Previously I had been rating cars out of 5 which was too narrow a rating system, so I will update the existing pages over time. Additionally I have started expressing the overall rating for a model as a percentage, with 100% being perfect, 90% almost perfect, 50% very average, 20% pretty terrible, and so on! One thing to note is that I often go back and look at models which I gave high ratings for in the past, and subsequently revise my original marks on them (usually downwards!). This is often because a model which was cutting edge in 2001 is not always so in 2006 and hence might warrant a lower rating by current standards.
One further added feature is the inclusion of
and
tags for pages that are brand new additions or have had either their text or photo's updated.
Please check out my ebay sales as I'm currently in the process of selling my collection. I have on average around 10-15 models up for auction every week. Please click on the following link to go to my items for sale on ebay (my ebay id is "donohoer"):

As far as price goes, it varies tremendously between models and model makers. Prices also tend to vary a lot between different countries, so I'll use German prices as a benchmark as I usually buy my models from online retailers in Germany, as I feel they are generally the cheapest retailers in Europe for model-cars. Prices in the US are generally cheaper, but the higher cost of shipping them and the fact that you get charged customs duty on items bought outside the EU means I usually do not get as good a deal as I do buying from Germany. The prices are in Euro, and are roughly what models cost in Germany in early 2007). The following categories are for pricing:
Anyway, if you like cars (especially model one's) then this is the site for you!
As of the 13/7/2007 the total number of models in the collection stands at 812.

Sorry, but due to the excessive amount of spam and obscene entries it attracted I have removed my guestbook.
